Subject: Lingenfelter TA?
Me an my buddy were leavin the mall the other day in my Camaro. We pull up to the light to turn right and there's an LT1 TA in front of us. I look at my buddy and he's already smiling as am i. The TA is revvin a lil bit so im like were in action. Light turns green, he turns and gets goin straight on Rangeline and guns it a little. So i run up beside him and hit it down into drive from overdrive. He looks at me, we get dead even goin about 40 and i wait for him to hit it. He hits passing gear and prolly has a half car on me when i drop it into 2nd and my car just automatically pulls on him. We race til about 80-85 or so and in the end im about a car or so ahead. I was very happy lol. I was whoopin and hollering. I love racing, and more importantly, i love winning!! Afterwards i met him at a gas station b/c i wanted to know what was done to it. He says it's a Lingenfelter, which i could gather from the decals. I guess its a package that has a ram air hood and im not sure what else. The car also had a BBK throttle body. So i didn't think my Camaro did too shabby.

So...what does that have to do with a Lingenfelter?
Subject: Re: Lingenfelter TA?
His TA was a Lingenfelter.
Subject: Re: Lingenfelter TA?
Sorry but he lied to you. nice kill though.
he should have had them take the passing gear out of the tranny while they were building the motor. I hear that it causes a lot of rotational resistance. Jim
Subject: Re: Lingenfelter TA?
Wow that is all I can say.
Subject:
Yeah...he lied to you. I believe the lingenfelter lt1 ta's had 383's with a decent compression. From what you've said about your car in another thread it's stout, but wouldn't keep up with a Lingenfelter TA.
Subject:
I didn't even know there was a lingenfelter package for the camaro's/ta's. Doesn't sound like that was involved here, but nice kill anyway! :)
Subject:
Good kill but like everybody else has said no way it's a lingenfelter as it would be a mid 11 sec car on street tires. It could very well have a few lingenfelter parts but not the real deal.

I've heard you actually have to have one of their
packages to get the emblems. My fiancés dad was working on a lingenfelter vette at crossroads that was wrecked and they had to call lingenfelter and give them the vin numbers to the car to prove it was what they were saying it was before they would send him new emblems. So in other words they don't sell the emblems to just anyone. What decals did you see on his car that made you think it was a lingenfelter
Subject: Re: Lingenfelter TA?
thanks for everything so far guys. well under the rear right tail light where the 4th gens normally say ws6, etc.. it has a gold sticker that plainly said Lingenfelter Ram Air H.O. and also had these stickers on each door. So, it really did look legit. And it did have the ram air hood. And im not sure about the motor. Appeared to be a bone stock LT1 with a BBK throttle body being the only thing aftermarket. But, i had never heard of one, so it fooled me pretty good i guess. It appeared to be legit.
Subject:
It wouldn't be stickers it'd be badges and there would be something under the hood would also say lingenfelter like valve covers and a badge on the driver side inner fender.
Subject: Re: Lingenfelter TA?
Well i guess it was phony then. Cuz it just had stickers and nothing under the hood that said Lingenfelter.
Subject:
Still a good kill man lt1's can be very respectable cars with just bolt-ons. Hey when you get a chance this year take you car to the track and find out he good it really runs.

I saw the same car the other day on Range Line. And Lingenfelter made 2 differnt versions of the Trans am between 1992-1997 a 350 cid lt1 version 410 BHP / 385 lbs-ft of torque and a 383 cid lt1 440 BHP / 430 lbs-ft of torque. then they mad 3 versions from 1998-2002 a 350 420 BHP/400 lbs-ft of torque, 383 465 BHP/440 lbs-ft of torque, and a 427 530 BHP / 530 lbs-ft of torque. They made 9 in 97, 9 in 98 starting with a LS1 T/A, not a Formula. With the 1997 Hurst-FB 0-60, 4.6 1/4, 12.9 with automatic and the 1997 Hurst-FB 0-60, 4.6 1/4, 12.6 with 6 spd (estimated by LIngenfelter for MT) respectfully. sorry Jimmie not trying to squash any ones post but I think accurate info should be given especially an such a rare car.
Subject: Re: Lingenfelter TA?
I think it was a phony though. Cuz there's no way my car coulda beat it.
Subject:
Just curious what color is this TA?
Subject:
Reaper even if it was the lower of the 2 it would still run bottom 12's at 106+ mph and again linenfelter uses badges on almost every car they had a hand on not stickers. You posted times but no mph they went from a roll. A 12.9 on street tires usualy equates to atleast 105 mph and from a roll it would fly. Both those cars have over 100 crank hp then my ws6. And if he dosent think his car runs 12's then he's probably right. And since there was only 9 made then it's more likely that's it a fake.

Its black with gold decals. gold or yellow. whichever you wanna call it lol
