2008 100mphClub.com Power Cruise Route
June 7 & 8, 2008
SATURDAY -
START of the Cruise!!!
We will be starting in Mt. Vernon, MO at the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce parking lot is located directly across from Casey's gas station on the main drag (Mt. Vernon Blvd.) - we will basically be under the water tower. (we may be right next door as there is a larger parking lot.)
Yahoo Map to Chamber of Commerce
**We will leave the Chamber of Commerce at 9:00 AM make sure you have a full tank of gas!!
We will take 39 highway South THROUGH Aurora. We will NOT be stopping in Aurora on the way to Branson.
STOP ONE!!!
Scenic View Overlook one mile before Shell Knob. Be on your toes here. We will top a hill, then suddenly need to pull off. When you see the sign below, get ready. We will be taking group pictures of the cars, so we'll need to line up around the circle.
We will be calling ahead to Shell Knob to let them know we are almost there. So we may be at this stop for a few minutes if they are not quite ready.
STOP TWO!!!
Shell Knob will be saving us places to park in their town for a quick car show while we eat. They are announcing our Tour in their newspaper and are thrilled to have us stop in! So please be courteous as we would like to be invited back.
Our stop will be in a Strip Mall parking lot. Stumpy Burgers would like to feed the bulk of our group this year. They are going to have tables set up for us outside. We are going to try our best to be there at 11:00am to beat their lunch crowd. In Mt. Vernon we will take a "rough" order of just the burgers so they can have them ready for us when we arrive.
Prices are as follows:
LL Bandit - $3.95
Stumpy - $5.95
Cheezie - $6.25
Double Cheezie - $8.95
Soda - $1.90 (I plan to bring a cooler with my own drinks. You may do this also.)
Water - $1.25
There are several choices of places to eat in town: Carol's Family Restaurant, Subway, Mazzios, a Chinese Buffet, and across the street is a Super Market, or bring your own lunch.
**Those that need to, should go and fuel up in town before we leave.
When we leave Shell Knob, and continue the very scenic drive South on 39 across Table Rock lake, until we reach Hwy 86. We will head East on 86 (turn left) until we reach Hwy 65.
Head North on Hwy 65 and take Hwy 265 exit to the west (left). You will turn left again on Hwy 165. This road will take you straight to Table Rock Dam. We are going to stop here.
STOP THREE!!!
Table Rock Dam has a visitor center on the left (with restrooms) and a scenic overlook across the road. If there is enough room, we will take the performance vehicles across to the overlook and line them up for pictures.
We do not have a set time to leave this stop. But we would like to get to Area 57 at aprox. 3:00pm
We will drive across the dam then turn right on Hwy 165.
Now you have a decision to make!
Option A: The easiest route to follow is to turn East (right) on Fall Creek Road. This will take you straight to Area 57 (just before 76 Blvd). The problem is the turn on to Fall Creek Rd. It is VERY sharp, and VERY steep. Lowered cars can drag the ground.
Option B: Go past Fall Creek Road on Hwy 165. Turn East (right) on Green Mountain Dr. Turn South (right) on Wildwood Dr. Then left to return to Fall Creek Rd, following it to Area 57.
STOP FOUR!!!
Dick Clark Theater and stop at Area 57!
Area 57 will be on the left next to the Ramada. BEFORE 76 blvd.

We'll not only have a place for our cars, we'll be staying in their hotel. 2 pools to choose from. Plus they have a B-ball court and a volley ball court. They will also be providing us with our very own Drive-In movie. So bring your folding chairs!
Here we will have immediate access to the Diner on location as well as the Car Museum. (discounts?) Here is a link to the
Diner Menu. Other restaurants and attractions are within walking distance.

STOP ONE!!!
We will be leaving Branson at (time to be determined). We will head down 76 Blvd to Hwy 65 where we hope to join up with the Hot Rod Power Tour on their trip to Springfield.
STOP TWO!!!
We will stop to eat in Ozark in the Wal-mart Shopping Center. We will call ahead to have seating setup for those that wish to eat at El Charro with the group. There is also a Wendy's, Subway, Backyard Burger, and Arby's within walking distance. We will proceed up Hwy 65 to the north side of Springfield. Then go West on I-44 to the fairgrounds to see the Hot Rods.
STOP THREE!!!
