Exhaust for the coupe

Postby thinkfaster » April 10th, 2014, 6:03 pm

What kind of exhaust do you guys think will sound best on the coupe? For those of you that don't know, it has an 04 cobra swap.

The car has crower stage 2 cams. They aren't really aggressive cams, but I would like to bring that sound out as much as possible. I have read a lot about 2 1/2" vs. 3" exhaust making a big difference in this area. I'll be keeping the stock exhaust manifolds for now as well.

The car currently has a bbk x pipe, magnaflow hi-flow cats, older Dynomax mufflers, and tailpipes...2 1/2" all the way through. Sounds good at WOT but is pretty quiet.

I would like to keep tailpipes, but I plan to get rid of the cats...

I have listened to a few SLP, Borla and, Magnaflow systems that I like, but I'm not sure what kits might fit the coupe? I may have to piece it together...thoughts?

Where did all the H pipe love come from all of a sudden?

I don't have much knowledge on the Termi exhaust sound. I just know my BBK shortys Walker o/r X pipe and Flowmaster super 10s on the 92 was about the best sound I've ever heard..... I understand there's a massive difference between the two engines.

That being said I still think Super 10s are about the only muffler I'll ever actually spend money on again to put on any V8

4v motors are very pitchy anyway. The x adds so much rasp that it just sounds like poo. The h gives it some rumble back.

Certain x pipes sound good. BBK and Basanni sound like s***.
